Message from the Director of Curriculum:

The Kiel Area School District’s strategic plan has an emphasis on personalized learning:

Ensure all students receive a personalized, comprehensive, future-focused education
where students are empowered to become leaders in their learning.

Why do we use Personalized Learning?

Personalized learning is an approach to learning and instruction that is designed to keep students actively engaged through ownership of their learning. A personalized approach centers on the individual learner's strengths, needs, and interests. It's a system that aims to provide opportunities where students are active participants in their education through setting goals, planning their learning paths, tracking their growth and demonstrating proficiency-based progress on the content standards. Wisconsin academic standards are used in instruction. KASD teachers have established essential standards and learning targets for assessment based on the Wisconsin State Standards. The learning targets, often called "I Can" statements, provide a consistent and clear understanding of what students are expected to learn and be able to do at each grade level and for all subject areas.
