Chinese Paper Portraits

Welcome to this work in progress! My name is Patricia Boone and I teach art at Fairmont High School in Kettering, Ohio. This is my 26th year teaching for Kettering, the first 20 of those years being elementary art. I earned my Bachelors Degree in Fine Art from Eastern Michigan University. My graduate degree is from The University of Dayton. My medium of choice is clay and I have had vast experience in all aspects of the pottery world. My husband and I have 2 daughters; one attending The Ohio State University and the other a senior at Centerville High School. We share our house with 3 dogs, 1 rabbit, 2 birds, and 2 chinchillas!
In Crafts and Ceramics, we look at the applied arts of pottery, bookbinding, weaving, batik, macrame and other traditional crafts. Most of the work will be hands-on, but there are readings and class discussions on the agenda as well.
In Sculpture and Ceramics, we move into more difficult clay projects as well as experience subtractive, additive and assemblage sculpture. We keep a binder for the course which holds handouts, sketches and artist information. Crafts and Ceramics is a prerequisite for this course.
