What We Do

The Diversity Council focuses its work on providing support for educators as they work in diverse schools around the state.  We not only provide professional development for educators in the form of courses, conferences, and meetings, but we also provide leadership opportunities for elementary, middle and high school students.  Click on one of the links on this page or the drop down menu to learn more about these programs.

Other exciting programs we offer:
  • Student programs featuring performances and guest speakers.  We have had notable speakers such as Leon Bass, WWII veteran of a segregated army unit and concentration camp liberator, and Nesse Godin, Holocaust survivor and speaker for the US Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington DC.  We have also sponsored the outstanding plays "Clara's Diary" and "Dear Esther".

  • Trips to the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, D.C. for all educators taking the in-service courses and for two representatives from each member district.
