Hello! My name is Melissa Stanley and I am the 3rd and 4th grade self-contained cross categorical exceptional children's teacher here at Woodrow Wilson Elementary. This is my 15th year teaching exceptional children here at Woodrow. I love my job and the children that I work with.
College(s) Attended/Degrees Earned:
Keuka College: Elementary and Special Education
University North Carolina at Charlotte: Masters in Reading Education
WOW!!! I can't believe the first nine weeks is over! We have been busy working and learning a lot. Here is what we are working on:
Reading: We are working on learning sight words, decoding skills, and comprehension.
Writing: We are working on grammar and writing personal narratives.
Math: We are working on addition and subtraction of larger numbers and number sense.
Things parents/guardians can do to help: READ, READ, READ!!! While your child is reading you can ask them questions about what is happening to help with their comprehension skills. You can also read to them to model fluent reading. The more your child reads and sees you read the more they will understand how important reading is in their daily lives.
