Today, we welcomed a speaker from The Terrence Higgins Trust to talk to us about HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases. Katerina Mitchell discussed the services offered to people in Scotland and in particular their projects aimed directly at the African population. We discussed places where testing was available, ways of avoiding transmission and barriers which stopped people getting tested regularly. We then took part in a base-line questionnaire for Waverley Health Care’s African project. This will be used as a starting point to see the opinion of Africans in Glasgow on HIV/AIDS before a course of outreach work is undertaken by Waverley Health.
