Surveillance Cameras on Campus

Over the past several months, Kapolei Middle School has experienced a rash of vandalism against school property. We reported over ten incidents of individuals coming on school property during the night and breaking our windowpanes. Over forty windowpanes have been damaged during this time period.
As a result of this senseless act of vandalism, Kapolei Middle School will invest in surveillance cameras to improve the safety and security of our school. The intent of the use of video surveillance cameras is to deter outsiders from entering our campus for inappropriate purposes, and to deter students from inappropriate behaviors.
The surveillance cameras will be situated in areas that are considered public places - exterior of buildings and other open areas on campus. The video tapes will be erased or written over within ten (10) calendar days of the recording unless an incident is recorded that involves the violation of law or of Chapter 8-19 rules.
The surveillance cameras will be used for school monitoring and safety. Hopefully, the surveillance cameras will prove to be a deterrent to help prevent incidents from occurring on our campus. This senseless act of vandalism is costly to the State of Hawaii, and diminishes the beauty of our school.
If there are any questions or concerns, please contact Mr. Bruce Naguwa, at 693-7025. Thank you very much for your support.
