Our Blogs

Why blog?

Watch this YouTube video "Blogs in Plain English" to learn the basics about blogs.

What are you blogging about, anyway?

The purpose of your blog might change over the course of the school year. For now, your blog is a place for you to write about your passion projects.

Are there rules for commenting on blogs?

Yes! See my blogging guidelines for more information.

Think of what you'd want someone to say to YOU.

Compliment... Example Starters: "I like the..." "I like how..."

Comment... Example Starters: "I agree..." "I disagree..."

"I think..."

Connect... Example Starters: "I have also..." "I have seen this..."

Two more tips before you post...

1. Use correct grammar and punctuation - it makes you more credible (believable).

2. Ask a question to keep the conversation going, then check back later to see if he or she answered you.

Example Starters: "I wonder...

why / who / what / when / where / how..."

Essentials of a great blog post

1. Catchy title

2. Includes a quotation from your book

3. Well-written, and not copy / pasted from somewhere else

4. Proofread & spell-checked - your best work

5. Written in paragraphs or prose format

6. Gives the reader something to think about

What does a blog comment look like?

It provides feedback, answers a question, adds on to the information, asks the blogger a question, gives a compliment... It is a short conversation between the reader and the writer.

How will the blog be evaluated?

Please go to the Rubrics page to see the blog rubric.
