CAI 2014 Invitation

This invitation was sent from Assistant Superintendent Billy Haun the week of April 28:

Dear Colleague,
Please join us for the Curriculum, Assessment, and Instruction (CAI) Institute for 2014.
WHO? As a vertical team member, you are a key stakeholder in the long-term success as we implement a more balanced assessment model in ACPS. We look forward to continuing to partner with you as we use student work to better understand the progress of the division towards our goal of all students becoming life-long learners.
This summer’s CAI Institute will take the form of a Performance Task Scoring Academy. Participants will come together to analyze student work through the lens of our Lifelong Learner Standards. This time for collaborative study is an important next step as we strive to improve our assessment model in the division.
We hope you will be able to join us this summer to participate in the following:
  • collaboratively score student work,
  • select student samples that display a range of proficiency for each task,
  • discuss next steps and instructional implications based on our scoring of the tasks.
WHEN? Tuesday, June 17 through Thursday, June 19 from 8:30am-3:30pm each day
WHERE? This institute will take place at Sutherland Middle School & Hollymead Elementary School.
The stipend will be $125 per day, and lunch will be provided.
Please RSVP by Wednesday, May 7th using this Google Form to let us know if you will join us or not. Because of the interconnectedness of the experience over the three days, we need participants to attend all three days.
We value your contribution in this work and look forward to working alongside you at CAI 2014.
Thanks for all of your hard work,
John “Billy” Haun, Ed.D.
