Welcome to South Dakota ASCD!

SDASCD is affiliated with the national organization ASCD.   We coordinate the work of our organization with that of the national organization.  South Dakota ASCD is affiliated with the national organization ASCD. This organization, known as the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, provides expert and innovative solutions in professional development, capacity building, and educational leadership essential to the way educators learn, teach and lead. We are also affiliated with the umbrella organization, South Dakota School Administrators (SASD). SASD brings together educational associations including South Dakota School Superintendents Association (SDSSA), South Dakota Association of School Business Officials (SDASBO), South Dakota Association of Elementary School Principals (SDAESP), South Dakota Association of Secondary School Principals (SDASSP), and South Dakota Council of Administrators of Special Education (SDCASE).

SDASCD is an organization that has a diverse membership of educators representing, teachers, curriculum leaders and administrators. This diverse membership assists SDASCD in identifying areas of common interest to strengthen the collective work of all. The heart of our work continues to be centered around students. We wholehearted embrace the notion that all students should have an opportunity for a healthy, safe, engaged, supported, and challenged education.

The SDASCD monthly regional meetings, both East and West River are hosted by the representatives from the SDASCD Board and focus on current curriculum issues. Meetings are informative, and collaborative. Attendees consistently agree that the ideas shared and information gained make these meetings one of the best opportunities curriculum leaders have in our state.

SDASCD is governed by a board representing the curriculum leaders from across the state. This Board is committed to supporting all educators in their efforts to improve educational outcomes for South Dakota students.  In addition, the SDASCD Board is actively involved in influencing legislative activities at the state level.

On behalf of SDASCD, I welcome and invite you to join our cadre of educators who are committed to learning from each other as we lead.
