DO YOU LOVE BIOLOGY? Join the new Andover High School BioBuilder Club and be one of about 30 teams worldwide to collaborate with valuable mentorship from MIT, in order to design organisms in the brand new field of Synthetic Biology!


-Meet weekly to design a new genetic system, starting September 2016

-Opportunities to go to MIT and the Museum of Science for BioBuilder Assemblies

-Receive mentorship from scientist experts in the field of Biology

-Be published in the student authored/reviewed BioTreks journal

-AWESOME college application & resume builder

-No prior biology class necessary. Just bring your enthusiasm to develop good ideas!


Past project ideas include designing genetic systems to:

-break down caffeine in the body (Brockton High School)

-use a cream to break down splinters (Acton-Boxborough High School)

-make a space mask with bacteria to generate oxygen for astronauts (Littleton High School)

-break down plastic in the ocean (Somerville High School)

-detect peanut allergens (Westwood High School)
