History

The JCS Athletic League began ten years ago with high school participation from Alpine, Pine Valley, North County and San Diego Academies.  Middle school participation came from the Murrieta and San Diego Academies.  Flag football, basketball, and indoor soccer were the sports offered.  Games were played at the Rancho Bernardo Recreation Center (football and basketball), and the La Mesa Indoor Soccer Center (indoor soccer).  At the high school level, Alpine won league titles in flag football and soccer.  San Diego was the basketball champion. In the middle school division, San Diego was crowned league champion in all sports.

Year two had Murrieta winning the high school division in both flag football and basketball.  San Diego took the indoor soccer title.  At the middle school level, San Diego repeated as champion in all three sports.

Year three added volleyball to the mix, bringing the sports offered up to four.  Murrieta dominated all sports at the high school level while San Diego did the same in the middle school division.

Participation numbers have continued to grow so that approximately 230 students were participating in at least one sport by the end of the 2012-2013 school year.  During this time span, Murrieta's middle school and high school teams have captured multiple titles, the Phoenix Learning Center has become a middle school powerhouse, San Diego's middle school and high school teams have excelled in flag football, volleyball, and indoor soccer.

During the past few years, JCS has added five new participants to the athletic program including JCS Innovation Centre Temecula, Dehesa Charter School, Pacific View Charter School, Diego Hills Charter School, and Diego Valley Charter School.

The 2016-2017 school year marks the tenth year of athletic competition for participants in the Julian Charter School Athletic League.  We look forward to another year of great sportsmanship and competition that has been the hallmark of JCS sports.
