My name is Laren Swensen and I am honored and humbled to teach at Juab High School. I earned my BS in Education from Utah State University in Logan Utah. Before earning my BS in Education I completed an Associate Degree from Ricks College, now BYU-I, in Rexburg, Idaho. I graduated from Sugar-Salem High, in Sugar, City, Idaho, My teaching philosophy is very simple students do not care how much you know until they know how much you care. I show my caring by forming teaching relationships with my students and trying to help then find their dreams and strengths so they can believe in themselves. I have been privileged to teach English, Drama, and Speech and Debate. Over the years of my teaching career, I have earned a number of teaching awards.  I was honored to be the Utah Drama teacher of the year in 2004, 2005, and 2006. I was the Utah Speech and Debate teacher of year in 2005, and 2010. My Speech and Debate team placed second in state eight times and was the 3A state champion in 2010. The Utah High Activities Association recognized me with their Outstanding Distinguished Service award for Speech/Debate, and Drama in 2004. In 2016, was inducted in the Utah Debate Coaches Hall of Fame. I love teaching at Juab High School.
