And the Philadelphia Post Office/Federal Building on Market Street

Oh, and the Pennsylvania Turnpike, too.

From http://www.pophistorydig.com/?tag=vanity-fair-nra-blue-eagle: "The Blue Eagle’s days as an official symbol of the NRA and the economic recovery ended by September 1935.  However, a part of its legacy survives to this day in the name of the Philadelphia Eagles football team, as in 1933, Philadelphia native and college football coach Bert Bell, who had formed a new National Football League franchise to replace the defunct Philadelphia team named the Frankford Yellow Jackets, named his new team the Eagles in recognition of the NRA."

ASSIGNMENT

Analyze the responses of Franklin D. Roosevelt’s administration to the problems of the Great Depression, and Barack Obama’s response to the 2008 recession, as well as their other progressive initiatives (Social Security, Affordable Care Act, etc.).
Consider social and political as well as economic effects.  How effective were these responses?  Did their efforts live up to the rhetoric either for or against them?

Use the sites below and other reputable internet resources, and provide links to them in your paper; I suggest doing a Google search of OBAMA NEW DEAL
