Members

The following Organisations are currently Members of Wonca Africa:
There are also a number of countries that are showing active interest in becoming members:
We are waiting for movement from known colleagues in
  • Southern Africa: Swaziland, Namibia, Mozambique, Zambia,  DRC
  • Eastern Africa: Tanzania, Sudan
  • Western Africa: Cote d' Ivoire, Niger, Mali
It is not difficult to become a country member organisation: you just need 1-1000 members, a constitution and bank account. The fee payable to Wonca is $0.86 per member per year. So an organisation of 20 family doctors could cost you less than $20 a year!! A standard constitution for a "Country Society of Family Medicine and Primary Health Care" to help you along is below. It can include any generalist family doctor (and PHC Nurses and Clinical Officers in separate chambers). Start getting organised and work towards getting the discipline of Family Medicine recognised - let us know how you are going.

Direct Membership is encouraged. See here. We will also be launching a voluntary "Friends of Wonca Africa" contribution to specific causes like helping exchanges, Afriwon, Women etc

Afriwon and Wonca Africa Women will be supported, including a presence on the Wonca Africa website. There are various working parties and special interest groups in Wonca. We urge those interested to contact the chair of these directly and volunteer, with a copy to the secretary (shabir@drmoosa.co.za) so that we can track communications.

Wonca Africa Region Conference 2015 will be held in Accra, Ghana and will be chaired by Wonca Africa President-elect Dr Henry Lawson. You must put it on your calendar and plan from now. See more
