Leah Richins Smith

Raised in New Mexico, Arizona, California and Utah, Leah is the 7th of 10 children.   Inspired by her favorite teacher, Chris Carrigan, Leah decided she wanted to be a Home Economics teacher when she was just 15 and a freshman at Davis High School.  Leah has taught Family and Consumer Science in both Utah and Arizona since 1987.  In addition Leah was the Work Based Learning Coordinator & Career Counselor at Springville High School and a Counselor at Dixie High school prior to coming to Valley High School.

Leah currently teaches Adult Roles and Responsibilities, Financial Literacy, and is a Sophomore Mentor.  She has a deep love for her students and hopes she can inspire them to “Dream Big” and then do what it takes to “make it happen” When asked, Leah says “The best part about my job is working with the kids.”

When she is not teaching at Valley Leah enjoys teaching Natural Solutions classes in her community and spending time with her family.  Leah and her husband Morgan live in Pleasant Grove Utah.  They have 7 children and 15 grandchildren.
