Volunteer Descriptions

Cub Scouting's volunteers work with scouts and their families to improve their communities by enriching the lives of the families who live there.

Committee Chair:
  • Chief organizer, responsible for proactively monitoring details of Pack operations
  • Conducts monthly committee meetings Delegates responsibilities to committee members
  • Plan year-long program for pack meetings and activities with help of other leaders
  • Responsible for all necessary “paperwork” including new membership & adult leader enrollment
  • Works closely with Cubmaster to support pack program
Cubmaster:
  • The focal point of the Pack, responsible for creating a positive, fun experience
  • Serve as Master of Ceremonies for monthly pack meetings and activities
  • Plan year-long program for pack meetings and activities with help of other leaders
  • Guiding, supporting, motivating, and inspiring other leaders. Make sure they receive recognition!
  • Help in running committee meetings
 Assistant Cubmaster:
  • Assist the Cubmaster as needed
  • Cubmaster’s backup, filling in as focal point for the Pack when Cubmaster is not available
  • Attend Committee meetings
Secretary:
  • Attend committee meetings and record notes
  • Send meeting minutes to adult leaders/volunteers
  • Help committee members, leaders, and volunteers with paperwork/organization/communication
  • Work closely with Committee Chair, Cubmaster and Assistant Cubmaster
Treasurer:
  • Develop, with committee support, a sound financial program using Pack Budget Plan
  • Approve all budget expenditures and maintain accurate records
  • Collect dues
  • Report on Pack’s financial condition at committee meetings and periodically at pack meetings
  • Work with “fundraising” coordinators in conducting council-approved, Pack money earning projects
  • Maintain up-to-date Pack Property Inventory
  • Attend Committee meetings
Volunteer Coordinator:
  • Responsible for ensuring stable, active & enthusiastic volunteers for ALL pack positions
  • Primary Job: Delegating and Thanking!
  • Help in recruiting new volunteers
  • Give continuing support, encouragement, direction and help to volunteers
  • Help new leaders with training, planning and conducting den meetings
  • Responsible for volunteer board
  • Attend committee meetings
Pack Trainer:
  • Make sure all volunteers are appropriately trained with Youth Protection and the appropriate Leader Specific Training (all training is found on-line at www.myscouting.org)
  • Communicate with district /council to learn required training for events and volunteers
Advancements Chair:
  • Communicate with den leaders to make sure all advancement information is correct
  • Shop for advancements at local Scout Shop
  • Distribute advancements with den leaders at Pack meetings
Public Relations Chair:
  • Communicate with local news to highlight our pack as a Positive Role in the community
  • Help the Pack advertise upcoming events
  • Attend committee meetings
Technology Consultant/Webmaster:
  • Build& maintain pack website and facebook page
  • Maintain pack contact information
  • Publish Pack Calendar
  • Publish other information such as forms and program information
  • Website may also act as repository for Pack pictures and past program notes
  • Attend committee meetings
Service Project Coordinator:
  • Communicate with groups in the area to learn about community needs
  • Coordinate service projects for each month's pack meeting based on needs in the community and the surrounding area
  • Attend committee meetings
Den Leader:
  • Cub Scout leaders support the family. They take an active part in helping to strengthen families and their boys by providing a fun-filled, worthwhile program that teaches values.
  • Plan meetings and activities based on the appropriate age group and rank. (At least one meeting per month.)
  • Help your den advance and keep them active.
  • Communicate with Cubmaster frequently
  • Attend committee meetings
Religious Awards Coordinator:
  • Become accustom to P.R.A.Y. and their Faith-Based Initiave
  • Help scouts and families find churches/counselors to fit their needs
Camp Coordinator:
  • Keep the OUTING in scOUTING! Keep the kids going to camp!
  • Registered for camps: contact district camping office, get camping slots and keep track of deposits
  • Two primary camps our pack attends: Polar Cubs, Summer Camp
  • Attend committee meetings & communicate information for duration of active positions
Heimatfest Fundraiser Coordinator/Team:
  • Attend Heimetfest meetings to learn any information needed for event
  • Communicate with Treasurer
  • Meet together/communicate to coordinate event
  • Order and Pick up: pop and water from Rademacher’s
  • Work together to make sure our Heimetfest sales are a success!
  • Attend committee meetings & communicate information for duration of active position
Popcorn Fundraiser Chair/Team:
  • Plan and conduct popcorn sales
  • Meet with district to learn information
  • Keep track of sales, finds, and prizes
  • Communicate with Treasurer
  • Find drop off & distribution point
  • Work with Wreath Coordinator
  • Work with Volunteer Coordinator to get extra help
  • Attend committee meetings & communicate information for duration of active position
Wreath Fundraiser Chair/Team:
  • Plan and conduct wreath sales
  • Meet with district to learn information
  • Keep track of sales, funds, and prizes
  • Communicate with Treasurer
  • Find drop off & distribution point
  • Work with Popcorn Coordinator
  • Work with Volunteer Coordinator to get extra help
  • Attend committee meetings & communicate information for duration of active position
Friends of Scouting Fundraiser Chair:
  • In the winter, we are asked to approach all of the scouting families for additional support of the local district.
  • Short talk in front of the Pack, with the distribution and collection of FOS materials afterwards
  • Track results and return to the pack as needed throughout the year
  • Attend committee meetings & communicate information for duration of active position
Pancake Breakfast/Dinner Fundraiser Team:
  • 4 person committee (2 opening & 2 closing)
  • Communicate with Treasurer
  • Communicate with Public Relaitons to advertise event
  • Communicate with church. Find out any necessary information needed for use and clean up.
  • Meet as necessary to make this fundraising event a success
  • List needed items for donation
  • Coordinate pack family sign-up times
  • Attend committee meetings & communicate information for duration of active position 

Pinewood Derby Coordinator/Team:

  • Order & distribute cars
  • Order Awards
  • Plan and run event: weigh-in, set up & tear down
  • Communicate with Public Relations
  • Communicate with Treasurer
  • Attend committee meetings & communicate information for duration of active position
Summer Event Coordinators:
  • There are three summer events for our pack: Fishing Derby, Raingutter Regatta, Water Wars
  • Coordinate your respective event
  • Order necessary supplies (ie. Boats, awards)
  • Plan Activities, food, etc…
  • Set up & teardown events
  • Communicate with Treasurer, Public Relations, and Volunteer Coordinator for assistance
  • Attend committee meetings & communicate information for duration of active position
Parade Coordinator:
  • Coordinate Pack’s involvement in Heimatfest and Memorial Day Parades
  • Attend committee meetings for duration of active position
Scouting for Food Coordinator:
  • Coordinate with Jordan Boy Scouts
  • Attend committee meetings for duration of active position
Roadside Clean Up Coordinator:
  • Coordinate clean up with Lions
  • Attend committee meetings for duration of active position
