Profile of Master John Lau

Chief instructor, Master John Lau, was born in Hong Kong. At the age of 16, John Lau began his training in different styles of traditional martial arts under the guidance of his grandfather. This early training laid a firm foundation for his development in Taekwon-Do. Master Lau began his life-long training in Taekwon-Do in 1973. In 1977 Master Lau achieved his first degree black belt ranking under the supervision of ITF (International Taekwon-Do Federation) in Sweden.
That very same year, Master Lau won the title of All European Champion (first place in both pattern and sparring competitions) and began teaching in Taekwan-Do in Sweden. In 1978, Master Lau competed in the European Championship and won second place in pattern competition.

In 1979, Master Lau won the European Championship first place in sparring and second place in pattern). In 1980, Master Lau won the Sweden Championship in sparring. 
In 1981 Master Lau began teaching in the Hong Kong Community Center. The same year Master Lau won the Hong Kong Championship and was selected as a member in the Hong Kong Taekwon-Do team to compete abroad. The following year he emigrated to Canada and opened his own Taekwon-Do school. In 1983, Master Lau won the Canadian Championship.
In 1986, Master Lau achieved his second degree black belt ranking. He continued his training and development of Taekwon-Do under Grand Master Park Jung and achieved his third degree black belt in 1988. 

In the same year, he supported Grand Master Park in the formation of the Global Taekwon-Do Federation (GTF). With his dedication, Master Lau diligently promoted Taekwon-Do and achieved his forth degree black belt ranking in 1991. In 1995, Master Lau achieved his fifth degree black belt ranking and was granted the International Instructor and Umpire certification. In 1998, Master Lau was selected as a Canadian Referee Representative in World Championship.
