The middle of September is here and our first quarter is well under way. Here is the news of next week.

For all parents/guardians and students:ombs Curtain Call (our CHS Drama Department) is presenting the fall play. 12 Angry Jurors will be presented in our CHS Library September, 14, 15 and 16 at 7:00pm.

  • Do not miss your opportunity to see  12 Angry Jurors performed by the Combs Curtain Call (our CHS Drama Department). The show will be presented in our CHS LibrarySeptember 15 and 16 at 7:00pm. Please see the attached flyer for more information.
  • We are getting a new website at CHS you can still use www.combscoyotes.org to receive our school information from our temporary site.
    • The CHS school calendar is now able to be displayed under the Athletics tab.
  • Homecoming is right around the corner. Football, the parade, the tailgate and bonfire, the pep rally and the dance are just a few weeks away. Our student government kids are working hard to plan a great time for all.

    Please add these dates and times to your family calendar so everyone can participate:

    • The pep rally—Thursday, September 28       9:15-10:00am
    • The homecoming parade—Thursday, September 28    5:00-6:00pm
    • The tailgate and bonfire—Thursday, September 28    6:00-9:00pm
    • The football game—Friday, September 29, kickoff  at 7:00pm
    • The homecoming dance---Saturday, September 30 7:00-10:00pm
  • If you wish to bring an out of district student, please complete the attached form and return it to the main office by 3:00 on Wednesday, September 27.
  • Picture re-takes are Wednesday, September 27 from 7:30-10:30am in our small gym. If you student missed the main picture day, this is the last chance to get their picture taken this fall.
  • Construction on the campus is moving along nicely. Please plan on attending a community update so you can see and hear about how the CHS campus is being transformed. Please come to the library on Tuesday, September 26 from 6:30-7:30pm. Our Superintendent Dr. Gayle Blanchard and our construction company will lead this discussion and show our community what CHS’ future will look like.
  • Coyote families, you can make a difference in the learning experiences of our students through scholarships and grants.  Your tax-deductible contribution will be given back to teachers in the form of classroom grants for the great projects you are doing in your classroom. Please see the attached flyer for more information.

COUNSELING DEPARTMENT: Upcoming events from the CHS counselors, please add these dates to your calendar. Students, please see your counselor for more information on these post-secondary opportunities.

  • Seniors--all application day 9/29 (colleges will be on campus to meet with students about applying to their schools—colleges will waive application fees this day)

HEALTH OFFICE:

  • Do we have your green medical card for your student? These are important cards. If our computers ever shut down, this document is what we use if we need to notify parents/guardians.. It also gives the health office permission to give the student Acetaminophen (Tylenol) for minor aches and pains if you allow it. If your student didn't bring the green medical card home for you to fill out, please stop in the main office or the health office to pick one up. Thanks!

Free/Reduced Applications:     Are still being accepted.

  • Students who are eligible for free and/or reduced lunch are also eligible for free and/or reduced breakfast daily.  Students may also receive a reduction on AP Exams, tutoring scholarships and college scholarships.  Make sure your student is afforded every opportunity.  Parents may also submit the Free and Reduced Lunch Application online.  Please visit https://secure.ezmealapp.com/Default.aspx to begin the process.   • EzSchoolpay.com:  This is an online payment option for parents to add money and monitor student accounts. Please call 480-987-5312 for your student’s ID number. Checking your child’s account balance and making payments online are great benefits. There is a $2.50 processing fee for each transaction.

J.O. Combs Unified School District notes:
  • Mark your calendar for the Homecoming Parade September 28 from 4:30pm - 5:30pm.  The parade route starts at Ranch Elementary and continues to the CHS parking lot.  Join us for tailgating and the bonfire after!

Here at CHS we want to continue to support our families with information about the Free and Reduced Meal Program and how to access this program. Once your student is approved your student will receive meal services and other important resources here at school. We look forward to hearing from you.

Health and Wellness

Banner Children's HealthMobile offers free healthcare to students who do not have insurance and/or are seriously under-insured.

The HealthMobile is at Banner Ironwood every Thursday and at Banner Goldfield Medical Center on Southern, in Apache Junction every Tuesday.

Some of the services they provide are - Health assessment and health history, well-child checks, Immunizations, some labs, diagnosis and treatment of episodic illness (for example: flu, strep, urinary tract infections, earaches, rashes, asthma, etc.); sports and camp physicals.

You can call 480-412-6344 to schedule appointments - they do have bilingual schedulers.

They will take walk-ins, but prefer that you make an appointment.
