OBJECTIVES :
The club's main objective is to spread awareness regarding the needs and requirements to conserve energy.

IMPORTANT FACTS :

A UM PILOT STUDY ON A BEHAVIORAL ASPECTS OF ENERGY CONSERVATION:
Survey Research Center Institute for Social Research University of Michigan conducted a survey in five UM buildings. It involve some questioning session with the staff and faculty members.
Some of the findings are as below:
  •  More than 4 in 10 faculty and staff members (46%) do not turn off overhead lights when leaving their office or work station during the day, nearly a third (31%) said they “always” turn off their task lights.
  •  More than 4 in 10 faculty and staff members (44%) said they “always” turn off their main computer when leaving the office at the end of the day; a third (36%) said they “never” turn off their computer.

It is the best example to show that the way in which the energy is wasted at the workplaces. We are all well known with the increasing demands of the energy. We spend atmost 6-8 hours at our workplaces so its our duty to start the energy conservation from our workplaces itself. We all are aware of the following aspects of energy conservation :
  • Conservation can save you money.
  • Less electricity used means less fossil fuels burned means less pollution.
  • Decreasing our demand for electricity can decrease the need for nuclear reactors and therefore reduce the risk of radioactive pollution.
  • Solar power is a clean energy source, and a renewable one, but the production of the solar panels usually creates pollutants and waste products during the manufacturing process.
  • When water is polluted during the process of creating energy, it can change the eco-system

As you can see there are many reasons that conservation is important, ranging from the environment to the economy. The world's dependence on fossil fuels is creating a problem that will affect generations to come. It is important that energy not only be conserved, but also that research continues to find cleaner and better solutions for future generations.
OUR FUTURE IS IN OUR HAND
