Latest News:

I wish you and your child(ren) restful and interesting vacation. Some of the students really need a break because they have caught a cold and need to recover.
I also feel quite exhausted and am looking forward to some quiet days.
We are all back at school on Tuesday, 6th November. Please remember that there is NO SCHOOL on Monday, 5th November, because of a teacher study day.

After having written the second math test which I will return to the students after fall vacation, we will go back to multiplication. Some students still struggle with the basic multiplication facts / kleines Einmaleins. Please support your child in reviewing and memorizing the facts because we will soon continue with multiplication of bigger numbers.

A big thank you to all of you for the constructive conferences. It is always so good and important to be in touch with you and discuss how your child is developing. Thank you also for supporting your child's learning and social and emotional development. You are all wonderful parents!

If you would like to host a Thanksgiving Dinner for our class (it is done during the school day and other parents would send in food and there would be parent helpers to assist you) please contact me.

Please save the date November 30th for our potluck at the home of the Ludwig family. Thank you, Louise and Adrian, for inviting us. I look forward to a relaxed evening with good talks and delicious food.

You all agreed to have your child go on the class trip to Drei Eichen from 17 to 21 June 2019. I am very happy about this and I have just signed the contract.
We will have another parent evening maybe in March 2019 to discuss more details about the class trip. I will then ask you to pay because 9 weeks before we start the class trip (this is at the beginning of Easter break in mid April) I have to transfer 85% of the cost to Drei Eichen.

I have passed out a practice pass / Übungspass which the students will have to take along and get stamped when they go and practice at the Verkehrsschule on their own. Each child should go to the Verkehrsschule at least three times before they close in November. Please also have a look here:

Through this website you will get all the information which is important for class 4a.
It is a very simple website with the most recent news on the top and the important dates further down. Sometimes I will insert a new page which you can get to by clicking on the link to your left.
Please check this website at least once a week because I update it regularly (mostly on weekends). Usually no additional letters from me will be sent home. All important information will appear on the website.
However, another way to get information to you is through your child's parent information folder which should always be in your child's school bag. Letters from the administration or other information papers will be sent home in your child's folder. Please empty this folder regularly so I know you received the information.

You elected Alexandra Reece (Zoe's mom) as your parent rep for the German side and Joe Stange (Jasper's dad)  for the American side. The alternates are Anne Zoll (Louise's mom) and Nelvie Hansel (Sophia's mom). Thanks to all four for taking over these important jobs for our class.

You decided to have a class fund. For each student an amount of 20 Euro should be paid into the class fund. Alexandra Skinner (Susannah's mom) again volunteered to be the treasurer. Thank you so much, Alexandra.

We have a serious nut allergy in class. So please do not put any nuts (hazelnuts, walnuts, peanuts as well as nougat) into birthday muffins and other food which is shared in the classroom.

When your child is ill I would appreciate if you could e-mail me the same day.
Please send this mail also to elementaryschool@jfksberlin.org because then the secretaries know when a child is not there just in case I am not at school as well (which will hopefully not happen very often).
No other written excuse is necessary. If you know that your child will not be able to attend school at a certain date please also let me know well in advance so that I can plan accordingly. I can allow a leave of absence for up to three days, but not before vacation. This can only be done by the administration.

Please check your child's homework assignment book / Hausaufgabenheft regularly together with your child. One hour homework time per day is acceptable. If your child cannot finish the homework within this time, just write a short note into the homework book. The unfinished homework is then due the following day.

If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact me via e-mail kschorsch@jfksberlin.org. My telephone number is on the letter which your child brought home on the first day of school.
