Welcome to Frau Schorsch's homepage
of class 3a

Latest News:

Our next math test (subtraction of bigger numbers) will take place sometime during the week 22 - 26 January.

On Monday, 29th January, I will not be in school. I can take a day off because I helped with the election/Bundestagswahl in September.
The students will have regular instruction on that day which I have planned and which will be taken over by substitute teachers.

On Wednesday, 31st January, our whole third grade level will go to Atze Musiktheater to see "Ronja Räubertochter" by Astrid Lindgren. Lisa Spencer (Christine's mother) will come with us.
The show costs 5 Euro per child. I will take the money from our class fund /  "Klassenkasse".
Your child will need enough food and drink for the day because we will not be back for lunch. Students who are in Hort will get a packed lunch. First hour (Religion) will take place, so your child needs to bring his/her pencil case.

On the last day of school before winter break (Friday, 2nd February) all students are dismissed after 3rd hour at 10:35. They will get their report cards and need to bring something which protects the report card (parent info folder or an envelope)

Through this website you will get all the information which is important for class 3a.
It is a very simple website with the most recent news on the top and the important dates further down. Sometimes I will insert a new page which you can get to by clicking on the link to your left.
Please check this website at least once a week because I update it regularly (mostly on weekends). Usually no additional letters from me will be sent home. All important information will appear on the website.
However, another way to get information to you is through your child's parent information folder which should always be in your child's school bag. Letters from the administration or other information papers will be sent home in your child's folder. Please empty this folder regularly so I know you received the information.

If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact me via e-mail
kschorsch@jfksberlin.org. My telephone number is on the letter which your child brought home on the first day of school.

The two parent reps of class 3a are Alexandra Reece (Zoe's mother) for the German side and Jamie Turner (Hamilton's mother) on the American side. Their two alternates are Larchelle Tiglioglu (Meliya's mother) and Kelly Stange (Jasper's mother). A very big thank you for taking over these jobs!

You decided to have a class fund / Klassenkasse and Alexandra Skinner (Susannah's mother) volunteered to be the treasurer. Thank you, Alexandra. Some of you have already paid 20 Euro into the class fund. If you have not paid I suggest you send the money to school in an envelope via your child and I will pass it on to Susannah who will give it to her mother.

Please check you child's homework assignment book / Hausaufgabenheft regularly together with your child. One hour homework time per day is acceptable. If your child cannot finish the homework within this time, just write a short note into the homework book. The unfinished homework is then due the following day.

We have a serious nut allergy in class. So please do not put any nuts (hazelnuts, walnuts, peanuts as well as nougat) into birthday muffins and other food which is shared in the classroom.

When your child is ill I would appreciate if you could e-mail me the same day.
Please send this mail also to elementaryschool@jfksberlin.org because then the secretaries know when a child is not there just in case I am not at school as well (which will hopefully not happen very often).
No other written excuse is necessary. If you know that your child will not be able to attend school at a certain date please also let me know well in advance so that I can plan accordingly. I can allow a leave of absence for up to three days, but not before vacation. This can only be done by the administration.
