ATTENDANCE PROCEDURES

To report an absence, the parent must call the attendance line and leave a message by 8:30 a.m. on the day of the absence (303-982-6330). PLEASE NOTE:  Jefferson County Policy states that a school shall require communication from the parents or guardian WITHIN 24 hours to verify the reason for absence.

Extended absence is an absence of three or more days due to illness or family circumstances.  Please email or call teachers directly for extended homework makeup assignments.  Please allow 24 hours for the homework request to be processed. For a planned extended absence a pre-arranged absence form must be picked up in the Main Office at least 1 week prior to the absence and must be returned to the office on the last day of attendance for approval. Please allow no less than 1 week to process the homework request.

When circumstance requires parent/guardians to travel and a student must have temporary guardianship, please notify the attendance secretary as to the name of the guardian, the length of time for the guardianship, and provide permission for this individual to check the student out of the building.

STUDENT CHECKOUT PROCEDURES

Early dismissal cannot disrupt the education of other students.  Students leaving early must be signed out in the main office by a person listed on the Emergency Information on Jeffco Connect.   Parents whose student is being checked out by someone other than a listed person must notify the main office in the morning of the checkout and provide the following information:  Name of person authorized to sign student out; Reason for checkout; Time of checkout; and whether or not the student will be returning later in the day.  If this information is not received students will not be allowed to leave school grounds.   Parents are asked to review the daily bell schedule and arrange to meet your student in the office between classes.  Parents needing to check their student out before 3:00 p.m. are asked to follow these procedures:

·        Option 1:  Inform the main office (303-982-6340) on the day of early dismissal during first period.   A permission slip will be delivered to the student with the time of the dismissal.  Should the time requested occur during a class, the student will be given a time during a passing period which falls closest to the requested dismissal time.

·        Option 2:  Student brings a parent note to the main office before school begins.  The student will be given a permission slip allowing them to leave during class time.  It is the student’s responsibility to keep track of the time they are to leave.  Teachers are not to stop class to dismiss a student.

There are times that a prearranged, early dismissal is not possible.  Please notify the main office as soon as possible when emergency situations arise.
