  • MARCH LEARNING UPDATE READINGOur reading focus has shifted to nonfiction text. Students learn that readers often add to and even change their thinking as they think about what they are reading or have read. Students are metacognitive before, during, and after reading to support and improve comprehension. We are determining importance as well as revisiting how text features support readers. At this time of the year, your second grade reader should be able to summarize orally and in writing the main idea of a text and provide supporting details. SOCIAL STUDIES/SCIENCEWe wrapped up our Economics Unit by reviewing key concepts learned.  The students earned money through our classroom economy and it was used at the 3rd Grade Selling Session ...
