Testing Information

Standley Lake Parents,

We are approaching the annual State mandated testing which will run from April 10-14th.  9th graders will take all their testing on April 10th and 11th which entails 3 Reading and 3 Math tests.  10th grade will take the PSAT on April 11th.  11th Grade will take both the SAT on April 11th, and the CMAS Science test on the mornings of April 12th, 13th and 14th.  We have designed the schedule so that students who are not participating in testing will not miss any class time.  Students who are opted out do not attend on testing days or attend later in the day.

Free SAT Test Prep

Students can access free SAT test prep sessions through the Kahn Academy.  The web address is SATpractice.org    Students can take a practice test for free through this domain, or can take a series of quick assessments.  Once students complete one of the above, the site will construct a personalized practice session for each individual based on their results on the assessment(s) from above.

Opting Out

This year, parents must email Trip Sargent to Opt Out and must complete the attached form.  Copies of the form will be on our website and by Mr. Sargent's office. 12th grade has no testing and therefore, should not opt out.  12th grade has no school on Tuesday, April 11th and can arrive at 9:25 AM for 1st hour on Wednesday through Friday on April 12-14th.  11th grade has two tests, the SAT and Science testing.  If an 11th grade student is opted out, I need to know which test is being opted out.  As the SAT is a college entry test and helps Universities make decisions about who should attend, we highly recommend all students take this test.  If an 11th grader is opted out of science, they can come to school late (9:25 AM for 1st hour) on April 12th  - 14th.  10th graders take the PSAT or the Preliminary SAT and this is preparation for the SAT – a highly recommended test.  If a 10th grader is opted out they do not attend on April 11th and arrive by 9:25 on Wednesday through Friday April 12-14th.  If 9th graders are opted out, they would not attend school on April 10th and 11th, and attend late on the 12-14th of April.

As always, please direct any questions to Trip Sargent @ gsargent@jeffco.k12.co.us
