Schools were measured using the Colorado Growth Model standards from the Colorado Department of Education in reading, writing and math. The growth model measures how well schools are helping their students meet or exceed expected skill levels at each grade level. Only the top 15 percent in the total pool of 514 schools were proficient in ALL three subjects areas. Shaffer was also recognized for showing exceptional growth in reading.
The term “Thinking Maps” and the graphic forms of the eight maps have registered trademarks. They are used in this planner with permission from Thinking Maps, Inc. Thinking Maps: A Language for Learning (Hyerle and Yeager, 2007.) Specific training is required before implementing Thinking Maps in the classroom.
