Summer Reading 2017

Summer reading is fast approaching and I would love to come out to your school to help your students sign up for Jeffco Library Summer reading.  Our theme is Build a Better World and our goal is to help students maintain or even improve their reading levels for when they return to school in the fall.

  • Register online and get a BOGO coupon for Chipotle.  

  • Starting May 1st we will be able to pre-register students for the Summer Reading program.

  • Read for 4 hours - receive a free book.

  • Read for 8 hours

  • Kids will get a pass to Lakeside Amusement Park

  • Teens will get a pass to Elitch Gardens (while supplies last)

We will have a school contest again this year.  The school that reads the most will receive $800 to help support the library or literacy based program at their school.

If we reach our goal of 30 million minutes the library foundation will donate $500 to Foothills Animal Shelter.

Barnes and Noble- read and receive a free book

Tattered Cover-read and receive book tokens for a future purchase

Try reading the CCBA winners for 2016: The Book With No PicturesSam and Dave Dig a HoleSisters, and My Big Fat Zombie Goldfish

Check out the CCBA nominees for grades K-6 for 2017. Try searching the picture book title. Often there is a YouTube video of the author reading the story. Blue Spruce nominees are for grades 6 and up and also have the movie trailer linked. 

Or, start reading the Caldecott and/or Newbery award winners. Once you have read them all, you become a member of the Caldecott or Newbery Book Club.For more information, visit the Caldecott and Newbery Book Clubs.
