GENERAL INFORMATION
  1. Each physical education student is issued a gym locker with a built-in combination lock.  No outside locks may be used.  Locker rooms cannot be totally secured.  DO NOT leave valuables in lockers.  DO NOT SHARE LOCKERS!!!
  2. Class begins 5 minutes after the tardy bell.  Stand on or cover your assigned roll call number upon entering the gym.  You must be dressed out and ready to participate at this time.  Report ALL injuries immediately to instructor.
  3. Physical education classes are conducted as CO-EDUCATIONAL & CO-GRADE LEVEL in most activities.
  4. A loaner P.E. shirt can be provided on a first-come, first-serve basis and it is the student's responsibility to be dressed out for class every day.
  5. NO JEWELRY OR CHEWING GUM is permitted at any time for safety reasons.  Drake cannot be responsible for lost or stolen items left in the gym, locker rooms, or P.E. offices.
  6. Physical education classes include exercises and stretching done on a daily basis.  Other activities include endurance running, team sports, indoor and outdoor units, and lifetime carry-over sports programs.  There may also be written work assigned.
  7. Student assistants are present in all classes ti aid instructors and students.  Feel free to inform them of any problems that you may experience.
  8. Some of the P.E. activities include: Softball, Soccer, Basketball, Volleyball, Floor Hockey, Track, Tennis, and related indoor and outdoor recreational games.
  9. Weight training activities include bench presses, squats, incline, deadlifts, etc.

NOTE:  PLEASE INFORM TEACHER OF ANY ILLNESS OR PHYSICAL LIMITATIONS PRIOR TO THE BEGINNING OF CLASS

 
EVALUATION
  1. Each student has the opportunity to earn 30 grade points every day he/she is in attendance.  Additional points will be earned through skills testing and other assignments.
  2. Points are earned in the following ways:
    • Dressing out properly for class
    • Active participation in all class activities
    • Positive attitude and sportsmanship in all class activities
    • Physical Fitness Tests and team sports tournaments
    • Make-up work turned in or completed outside of class time
  3. Throughout the trimester, students will have opportunities to earn BONUS POINTS by participating in a series of skill tests or team sports.
  4. Students will not receive any points on those days they are absent from class.  They will, however, be allowed to make up those absences.  (See below)
  5. Proper dress is the required Jefferson County/Drake gym uniform, gym shoes, and white socks.  A loaner uniform is available for those who can't buy a new uniform, but if you receive and use a new uniform, you must pay for it!

  6. Letter grades are based on the following point scale.
A  =  90% of the total possible points
B  =  80% of the total possible points
C  =  70% of the total possible points
D  =  60% of the total possible points

F  =  Below 60% of the total possible points
