Oberon Clubs and Activities 2014-2015
Magic, the Gathering Card Club – Anyone and everyone can participate in this club. Play a card game called Magic which includes different “planeswalkers”, colors of magic/”Mana” and planes of a “Multiverse”. We have extra cards. Meet Mr. Waalkes, club sponsor, on Thursdays starting September 4 from 2:20-3:30 in room TA-1. No cost for students.
Mine Craft Club – Do you enjoy playing Mine Craft? Would you like to join your Oberon friends and play to your heart’s content? Come to the Mrs. Mayer's room (S-6) on Tuesdays from 2:15-3:00. All students who have a Mine Craft account are eligible to participate with a signed parent permission slip. Please see Mrs. Mayer, club sponsor, for a permission slip. No cost for students. This club starts Sept. 23rd.
Art Club - Art club is every Thursday beginning Aug. 28 and ending May 14 from 2:20-3:15. There is no cost. Get a permission slip from Ms. Kelly in the Art room.
NJHS – National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) will meet monthly and, at times, weekly on Tuesdays from 2:20-3:00. NJHS is sponsored by Ms. Ryer, Ms. Cavaleri, Ms. Watts, Mr. Ruppert, Mr. Stambaugh, and Ms. Kelly. Twenty five dollar fee to participate and students will be required to complete 40 hours of community service by mid April. See teachers for additional information.
Bolder Boulder Racers Club – Beginning in February, run on trails around Oberon on Thursdays after school from 2:20-3:15. Meet Mrs. Mayer, club sponsor, in S-6 with your running shoes. We run on trails around Oberon after school 1 day per week from February - March. In April, we run twice a week as we train for the Memorial Day Bolder Boulder. There are several great running trails around Oberon that we will use. No cost for students.
Weightlifting/Cardio Club – Come join Mrs. Yacobucci/Dan Bauer, club sponsors, and other Oberon students to learn the proper and safe way to lift weights, work out and be healthy. This club is free of charge and will meet on Fridays from 2:30-3:00 in the weight room (C-6) and cardio room (C-1).
Chess Club - Chess club meets on Thursday from 2:30-3:30. It starts Sept. 4 and ends Dec. 18. Meet in Mr. Waalke's room (TA-1)
Wyld Life Organization - This club will be a place where students can have fun, strengthen school community, build friendships and complete school work. There is volleyball, soccer, b-ball, weight lifting, board games and study hall. Snacks will be offered. While participating in this club, all school rules, including dress code apply. It is Wednesday,Thursday, and Friday from 2:20 until 3:15. There is no cost to students. Get your permission slips from Mr. Ruppert in the Counseling Center.
