Safety Expectations for Parents and other Non-Staff Visitors Coming to Mount Carbon - Policy Update
Quick Stops at School by Parents
Due to security-related efforts to minimize movement of non-staff individuals through the building and to minimize class disruptions, we ask you to plan ahead with your student each evening to ensure he/she has everything they need for the next school day. We realize sometimes children forget items at home, however, bringing children these items may cause a pattern of dependency on parents to "rescue" them. We encourage students at Mount Carbon to be organized and learn through natural consequences so we discourage parents from "rescuing" their child too often. If you must bring a forgotten item, write the student and teacher name on the item, bring it to the office, and it will be delivered to your student internally. If you need to communicate with your child during the day, we will pass along a message so the classroom environment is not disrupted by parent visits or phone calls.
Watch DOG Dads is a national program intended to have more father figures as part of our school environment. Our Watch DOG program is up and running for the 2013-14 school year. If you are interested in spending a day or two at Mount Carbon this year, contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org or 303.982.7900.
