Hello! Hola, Slav, হ্যালো, Sveiki, こんにちは

My name is Janette Szabo and I am the ESL (English as a Second Language) Teacher/Coach at Foothills Elementary school, grades Kindergarten through 5th. Previously, I was an ESL Teacher, ESL Resource Teacher and classroom teacher at various grade levels in other Jeffco Schools. I have four children of my own—two sons and twin daughters. My family enjoys sport activities, music, hiking/camping in the mountains, traveling, and eating Hungarian food (from my husband).

The ESL program’s goal is to help develop students' English Language proficiency across all content areas. If students are enrolled in the ESL program, I work collaboratively with classroom teachers to support students in their English language development within regular grade level curriculum. This support looks different at every grade level and for every child, depending on strengths and needs, and will change throughout the school year. I will work with students in either my classroom or theirs. During these times, I often provide small group instruction and work on English speaking, listening, reading, and/or writing.
