Tomorrow (Wednesday 5/28) your child can bring in an electronic device/game. Many bought an electronic card at the Somers store today and we are celebrating our last U ROCKS celebration - electronic time.

Boo whoooooo! It is so unbelievable that we only have 2 more days left together. It seems like we were just starting 2nd grade and now we are getting ready to say goodbye.  I just wanted to take a second to thank all of you wonderful parents for sharing your children with me this year.  I am impressed with the improvements I have seen and I am confident that your children are ready to start the new challenges of 3rd grade.

    -- Monday- No School
-- Tuesday- Regular schedule- Please make sure your child has a backpack or bag to bring home desk belongings. On Tuesday we will celebrate all students who have a summer birthday.  If you would like to bring a treat for each student, please consider a cool supply vs. sweet treat. We will do an extra birthday recess to celebrate also.  I don’t want to load your kids with sugar all day long J
-- Wednesday- Last day of school. Early Release at 1:30 and pizza party for lunch at 12:15pm. Please bring in your treats then.

What a great week at Camp Wonna P-P:)

I hope you all have a wonderful and safe summer vacation together.  Thank you for all the support this year.

  • Summer BDay Celebration
Don't forget to send you kiddo in with a show and tell item.

Would any of you mind if I changed the summer birthday celebration to next Tuesday??  Today is my moving day and the projects/activities I planned today have to be shifted around and of course I over booked things. Let me know.

Wow!! What a fabulous Colorado weekend. I hope you all got out to enjoy the fresh warm air.

OMG!! It's very hard to believe that this is our last FULL week of second grade.  As a reminder we will be having Camp Week all week long and I don’t think the students could be more excited.  Below you will find more information about the week and some updates/reminders:

    * Homework- We are done sending homework for the year.
    * Camp Donations- Please send in the camp donations you signed-up for as soon as possible (unless it is perishable) so I can be sure we have enough of all items needed.
    * Talent Show- At some point in the week the second graders will have some time to do a mini “talent show” for their classmates as part of Camp Week.  This is VERY low key and your child does not have to participate.  If your child would like to share a song, dance, instrument, etc. in front of the other second graders they should come prepared to do so.  It would be your child’s responsibility to bring anything needed for the quick (5 minutes max) performance.
    * Summer Birthday Celebrations- don't forget we will be celebrating all summer birthdays on Friday, May 23rd from 11:20-11:50. If your child would like to celebrate with a treat or item, they are welcome to bring in.
    * Last Week of School- If you know your child won’t be here the last two days after Memorial Day please let me know ASAP so I can be sure to get all belongings sent home on your child’s last day in class.
    * Last Day Pizza Party- The lunchroom is closed on the last day of school so all students are required to bring a lunch from home.  So our class will have earned one last class party and we would like to have a pizza party on the last day for lunch.  If you donated items, we will eat around 12:15pm the last day of school. Please send in those items when you can.

    Happy Camp WEEK!!

  • No more word sort lists
Its hard to believe that the end of the year is so near. So, as of this week, there will be no more words their way lists sent out this year.

If you are looking for word work practice, make sure to go to my website and print off any word sort list. You can continue to practice the words over the summer. :) The most important aspect is being able to transfer the rules of words into other words that have the same rules and patterns. Ask your child to write a paragraph and make sure to focus on spelling those words correctly within their writing.

It has been an honor and privilege to have worked with all your children!! Thank YOU!!

I would like to give my sincerest thank you to all of the kind words, cards, flowers, treats, and PTA lunch that was provided last week for Teacher Appreciation Week.  It means so much to us teachers and I feel so lucky to get to work with amazing families each day.

The next 2 ½ weeks have many schedule changes and fun activities planned!  We are trying to keep a balance of routine and structure, along with some unique experiences.  This is the time of year when we tend to see a change in behavior.  Please help remind your child that it is important to keep focused and on-task up until summer has officially started. Below you will find some of the many exciting upcoming events:

Math Homework- The packet in the Friday folder is the last math packet of 2nd grade.
Typing Class- we started last week and will end typing class this coming Monday. The poem in your child's Friday Folder is to help them practice some more.
Teachers of the Day- On Tuesday we will have Miss Jessica Zinn as our teacher for one day. One of the auction items at the spring gala was to get this opportunity.  So, Miss Zinn will be running the show (along with my guidance) and we are excited to experience this little twist for the day.
Tie Dye- By Thursday your child will need a plain white t-shirt with his/her name on the tag in permanent marker.  We will be making camp shirts on Thursday morning. Thank you Mrs. Zinn and Mrs. Hocked to volunteering to help from 9:30-11:30am. Let me know if that is still ok!!
Field Day-  Second grade will take part in Field Day activities on Friday afternoon from 1:00-3:30.  Feel free to come by and see the action.
Library Books- All library books are due by next Friday.  If you have lost a book, please contact Ms. Garlow to arrange payment of the lost items.
CAMP WEEK- Please check our sign-up genius for ways you can help contribute to our festive week of learning and fun.  Thank you to those who have already signed-up and donated.  If your item is nonperishable, you’re welcome to send it in early. Thank you for your contributions!

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY to all the amazing mothers!
