IB Diploma Programme

The International Baccalaureate Continuum is a comprehensive, concept-based curriculum framework which utilizes inquiry as the primary method of instruction to promote the development of higher level thinking. The IB works with over 3900 schools in 149 countries to offer the four IB programmes to over a million students.

The Diploma Programme (DP) for students aged 16 to 19 started in 1968 with first examinations in 1970 and is now offered by over 2700 IB World Schools. Alameda International Jr/Sr High School became an authorized DP school in April 2010. You can see our information on the official IB website by clicking on Alameda at IBO.org.

The IB Diploma Programme curriculum provides a cohesive and comprehensive liberal arts and sciences program of study for highly motivated juniors and seniors of differing educational backgrounds, abilities, and interests. It is not just a set of examinations, but a rigorous pre-university program, which will provide the basis for life-long education. IB aims to provide a balanced program, which stimulates thought and creativity and enhances the international perspective of students. Students who satisfy the demands of the program demonstrate a strong commitment to learning, both in terms of mastery of content and the development of skills.
