Since 1947, Colorado has given talented teenagers with an opportunity to be recognized at both the state and national levels by hosting the regional Scholastic Art Awards for the state’s 7th - 12th grade students. In 2004, Colorado added the Writing Awards. Now the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards program is the largest, longest-running and most prestigious student recognition program in America.
Hundreds of students throughout the state submit their creative art and/or writing selections to this significant national program to be juried by professionals.  For many, this program is a lifetime highlight because it allows for creative latitude through the adjudication of artwork in fourteen visual art categories and eleven writing categories.
Winning students are awarded Gold and Silver Keys or Honorable Mentions for their work, and their works will be displayed at History Colorado, the Denver Art Museum and the Museum of Contemporary Art, February 6th though March 24th 2017. And senior art students have the opportunity to earn scholarships from a pool worth $320,000.
