Mr. Oelschlager

Teacher Bio :
I was born in Denver Colorado, but my family moved to Lakewood when I was very young.  I graduated from Alameda High School in 1991 and went to the University of Colorado.  Once I decided to major in Graphic Design, I transferred to Colorado State.  I graduated Magna Cum Laude with a BFA in 1995.  Shortly thereafter I decided to become an art teacher so I enrolled at the Metropolitan State College to get my Teaching License.  I graduated from that program and was promptly hired to teach at Arvada West in 1998.  I have been a proud Wildcat ever since!

Education/Degrees Earned: BFA (emphasis Graphic Design) from CSU 3.911 GPA
Teacher Licensure from Metropolitan State College 4.0 GPA
Master of Arts in Teaching from Grand Canyon University 4.0 GPA

Little about me, philosophy, etc...  I believe that anyone can be successful in anything they are passionate about.  I love helping my students achieve their artistic potential, in whatever form that takes.  I also believe that in order for me to be an effective art teacher, I also need to be a producing artist.  With this in mind, I do my best to be as active as possible.  I accept commissions for artwork whenever I can, and I also enter art shows whenever possible.
