Welcome to Miss Shaver's Class!

Nala

Meet Miss Shaver!

This year will be my 16th year of teaching.  I started my teaching career right here- teaching sixth grade in temp 3 with Mrs. Miller and Ms. Cochran!  The next five years I taught a ⅚ split in Lakewood, at Glennon Heights Elementary.  After that I returned to Sierra and taught fifth grade for 8 years.  Finally I worked my way back to my roots- sixth grade!  This is my second year back at sixth grade with Ms. Cochran and Mrs. Miller.   Whew!  I am so excited for Outdoor Lab and all the fun we have in sixth grade!  As a side note, this is the third time I have moved into Temp 3- each time it just gets better!  It’s a pretty cool classroom, if you ask me.  :)

I am a Colorado native.  I was born and raised in Lakewood and attended Green Mountain High School.  I did my undergraduate at the University of Northern Colorado.  After that I earned my master’s degree in curriculum and instruction at Colorado Christian University.

I have a younger sister who is a dog trainer and lives in Topeka, Kansas, with her husband and step daughter.  My parents still live in Lakewood and are an important part of my life.  I also have an obnoxious English Shepherd, Nala, who always keeps me on my toes!  She is seven years old and still acts like a six month old puppy.  I always have a story to share about her (she eats everything).  When I am not chasing my dog or teaching, I participate in my other passion, Crossfit.

I am looking forward to teaching sixth grade and I can’t wait to meet you!
