Leadership Council

WHO: The JCOS Leadership Council is a community-based committee including  students, parents, and staff, and the community at large. Made up of volunteers, the Leadership Council includes a core group of voting members who make recommendations on a variety of community wide issues. These members are selected from a larger group of interested students, parents, staff, and external community members. Members of the Leadership Council serve as representatives for each area (ELC, IA, Pre-Walkabout, Walkabout) of the school for a one year term.

WHAT: The Leadership Council has three primary purposes:

  • Provide an ongoing community forum designed to educate, introduce innovative ideas, and problem solve concerns,
  • Design, implement, and oversee the school's Unified Improvement Plan (UIP), and
  • Serve as a decision making body for community recommendation.
WHERE/WHEN: The Leadership Council will meet periodically throughout the year, roughly quarterly. Meeting dates and times will be posted in the Weekly Wire. All meetings are public meetings open to anyone. The meetings will focus on business items including voting on community wide issues, developing the UIP, and establishing the community forum agenda by prioritizing community interests, ideas, and concerns. We will utilize the Council Process to facilitate formal discussions, addressing topics which are integral to implementing and understanding the JCOS program.

HOW: We encourage your participation with Leadership Council. Please feel free to attend all Leadership Council meetings. Also, as a representative body, it is critical that the Leadership Council be responsive to the community it serves. You are encouraged to bring your ideas and concerns to your Leadership Council representative in person or you can email the Council directly at JCOSLeadershipCouncil@gmail.com.

We look forward to working with you this year!
