Welcome to 8th grade Social Studies!
This year in Social Studies we will discover America from European settlement through Civil War Reconstruction. We will evaluate primary and secondary sources and discover the validity of sources online. We will determine the purpose of government and participate as active citizens in government by creating change through public policy. We will discuss, debate and get creative with projects. We will explore business and finances as they apply to our country and our own personal lives and we will explore continuity and change in American History through the eyes of historians.
About Mr. Petersen:
This is my 5th year teaching at Creighton Middle School and I couldn't be more excited! I am a Colorado native who grew up in Denver and Virginia Beach. I graduated from Metro State University of Denver with a degree in Political Science and History. I am currently working on a Master's degree at UC Denver. When not in the classroom I enjoy spending time with my wife and kids, playing the drums, listening to music, camping, and hiking.
