What Are We Learning?


Essential Question:

  • How can we represent/show something a different way?

  • Why would we want to?

  • What tools and strategies can help us learn multiplication?

Essential Learning:

  • Students can articulate patterns and relationships between numbers.

  • Students will develop strategies for learning multiplication facts.

  • Students will demonstrate mastery of addition and subtraction facts.

  • What do writers to before, during, and after writing?

  • What goals have I set for myself as a writer?

Essential Learning:

  • Students will engage in the writing process to write small moments or "Slices of Life" pieces.

  • Students will reflect on themselves as learners and set goals.

  • What is my role when I work with others?  

  • How does knowing patterns in words help me read and spell?

  • Why does fluency matter?

Essential Learning:

  • Students will flexibly use a variety of comprehension strategies.

  • Students will apply learnings of phonics, vocabulary, and spelling when reading and writing.

  • Students will fluently read a variety of texts.

Social Studies

Essential Question:

  • What is needed to make a successful and effective community?

Essential Learning:

  • Students will be able to follow community norms and positively participate.

  • Students will reflect on personal behavior(s) and consider how to be better citizens.


Essential Question:
  • How are life cycles from a variety of organisms similar and different?
Essential Learning:
  • Organisms reproduce, grow, develop, and differentiate in a predictable pattern.

  • Different organisms have unique life cycles that are different.

Extension Opportunities
  • Word Work - Tic-Tac-Toe boards can be downloaded from the documents tab.  Write on and wipe off the boards weekly to reuse it.  Keep it in the folder so it doesn’t get lost. *There is a file under the Documents Tab of our website that has directions for each of the Word Work activities.
