Instructional Coach Home Page

"Instructional Coaching increases student achievement through the support and development of self-directed, reflective teachers. This includes working with adult learners to contribute to a collegial learning culture, collaboratively implement school and district improvement initiatives, support the analysis of data for instructional adjustments, and work to co-create implementation of best instructional practices."

Coaching Mission

To increase educator effectiveness and student achievement.

Coaching Vision

By disrupting thinking, embracing evidence, and encouraging innovation, all educators and students will be engaged, empowered, and inspired.

My Core Coaching Values

All Students, All Educators: All means all. Every student and educator can learn and grow. I believe in continous improvement that is strengthened by collective effort and a reflective growth mindset.

Treat Others As Equals: Coaching is a partnership that requires mutual respect. I aim to listen deeply and  honor different ideas, perspectives, and experiences.

Witness to the Good: I believe in the 5:1 ratio for positive interactions. I strive to acknowledge strengths, effectively praise effort, and approach situations from an asset-based perspective.

Cultivate Relationships: I value finding common ground, building connections, and engaging in better conversations with others.  Relationships are key to increasing trust and developing a positive culture and community.

Utilize High-Impact, Evidence-Based Practices: As educators, I believe we must constantly reflect on the impact of our instructional practices and use strategies proven to make the greatest impact on student achievement.

My name is Kim Miller and I am so proud to be the instructional coach at Governor's Ranch. I am so thankful everyday that I have the opportunity to work with such amazing, thoughtful, hard working educators.

This is my 18th year in education. I earned my Bachelors in Biology and licensure in Elementary Education from a small school in Minnesota called Hamline University, and later received my Masters in Curriculum and Instruction through the University of Phoenix. My first teaching job was in a multi-age first and second grade classroom in my hometown, at my old elementary school, with teachers who taught me in first grade! Then, I moved to Colorado and worked in Douglas County for 12 years. Throughout my years as an educator, I have held various roles - classroom teacher, district math specialist, and instructional coach. All of them provided valuable experience that has allowed me to see the finer details in the classroom and the big overall picture at the district level. At Governor's Ranch, I am excited to collaborate with teachers for planning, data analysis, and instruction and support educator and school goals.

At home, my husband and boys keep me busy. I have a 7th grader and twins in 5th grade,  who are also Jeffco students, and my husband is a captain for the Littleton Fire Department. As a family, we love to vacation, camp, ski, play lacrosse, and cheer for the Broncos.
