REGISTRATION

GOLDEN HIGH SCHOOL 2016-17

 

Dear Students and Parents: 

We are looking forward to the beginning of a new school year. SOPHOMORES, JUNIORS AND SENIORS WILL BEGIN FIRST SEMESTER CLASSES ON FRIDAY, AUGUST 19th, 2016 (pink day, all classes will meet). FRESHMEN will have orientation on THURSDAY, AUGUST 18th, 2016 beginning at 7:30 am in the large gym, then have lunch and a modified schedule to meet briefly with all of their classes. Freshmen will be dismissed at 2:25 pm and buses will be running at their normal time.

As in previous years, students must go through a registration process prior to the start of classes.  Registration is done online.  For a successful registration, carefully read the information below, and then go to the GHS website to complete the registration process. All fees must be paid, and paperwork completed online or turned into the office by Aug. 17th.

A walk in registration will be held on August 8th and 9th only for those who choose not to pay on line. 

August 8th hours will be 9:00 am-2:30 pm and August 9th will be from 9:00 am-2:30 pm.

Registration Instructions 

Required Items:

1.    JeffcoConnect

JeffcoConnect is for parents to update and verify student information and emergency contact information.Parents must provide complete and accurate student and parent information. 

Every year starting July 1st, you can click on the JeffcoConnect button. Use your JeffcoConnect (Parent Portal ID) and password to log in.  Update all student and parent information under the Contacts tab, the race and ethnicity information under the Student tab, and the Military Opt Out section under the Enrollment tab and click Submit (this is your electronic signature stating the information is correct) on each page.  THIS MUST BE DONE EVERY YEAR.

PLEASE MAKE SURE TO LIST A VALID EMAIL ADDRESS THAT IS MONITORED REGULARLY AS MOST SCHOOL COMMUNICATION IS SENT VIA EMAIL.
 

Student access to Jeffco's Network on personally owned devices
In order for students to have access to Jeffco's Network on personally owned devices, both parents and students must agree to opt-in to the network through Jeffco Connect. Once both the student and parent/guardian opt-in, students will be able to set up their devices to connect to the network. Please click here for instructions on how to opt-in for this access. 

2.    Financial – Fines and Fees:  JeffcoConnect/JeffcoStudentFeePayment (formerly Payschools)

Beginning on Wednesday, July 27, fee payments for your student can be made online through JeffcoConnect/Jeffco Student Fee Payment.  You may make payment for the 2016-17 school year with your debit or credit card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover are accepted)There will be NO service fee charged.

A walk in registration will be held on August 8th and 9th only for those who choose not to pay on line. 

August 8th hours will be 9:00 am - 2:30 pm and August 9th will be from 9:00 am-2:30 pm for those who do not wish to pay on line.  


To access JeffcoStudentFeePayment go to JeffcoConnect.
  Once you are logged into JeffcoConnect, click on the JeffcoStudentFeePayment link (on the left, second from bottom).  Help guides are available on the page. A receipt will be sent via e-mail confirming your payment. Transportation fees are included in on the Jeffco Student fee Payment.  Please pay all fees prior to August 17th.

Parking permit request 

Parking permits may be purchased the first week of school to students who have paid all fees/fines. Students who have outstanding fees/fines will not be eligible to purchase parking passes. Complete the parking permit request online.  Parking fee is $125.00 for the year

Parking passes are pro-rated and need not be purchased until needed.   

Complete the vehicle registration/parking permit request form online, then click Submit at the bottom of the the form.  Parking permits can be purchased in the lobby on the first day of school for those that have paid all fees and filled out the Parking Permit Request Form.

Optional Items:

1.    Meal Benefits –Free and Reduced Meal Application

Click on https://lunchapps.jeffco.k12.co.us  link and complete the application process.  (You will find a Begin Application button on the lunch application web page immediately following the red text.) Please remember to check the boxes stating that you want your school fees waived

2.    MyPaymentsPlus

 MyPaymentsPlus is a service that allows parents to pre-pay for school meals online. 

Click on JeffcoConnect and log in with JeffcoConnect username and password. Click on MyPaymentsPlus(MealPay) on the left and sign in using your mealpaymentplus username and password that you previously created.  If you are new to MyPaymentsPlus you will be required to set up an account with a username and password.

 3.    Locker agreement

There are a limited number of lockers and students are encouraged to share a locker with a friend.  

Complete and Submit the locker request form. Your locker assignment and combination will be available along with your schedule starting August 12th  after 2:00 pm through Infinite Campus Portal.

4. Athletics

Athletes must complete the New Participation Contract and 2 Emergency cards and turn them into the athletic office along with payment by August 12th.  Students will not be allowed to practice without this paperwork.     

Click on the Athletics Documents link.  Print and complete the Participation Contract and 2 Emergency cards and bring them to the main office along with payment or proof of payment prior to the first day of practice. Athletic fees can be paid by credit card on Jeffco Connect/Jeffco Student Fee Payment or by check at the school.

5. PTA Membership

6. Library Card

Students can access free research databases through Jeffco Public Library.  If students don’t have a Library card please complete and submit the Library Card Request form.

Other Important Information:

Student IDs/Pictures

FRESHMEN, SOPHOMORES, JUNIORS AND SENIORS will have pictures taken on August 24th and 25th during school hours.  

All students, including SENIORS, are required to have I.D. pictures taken at no charge.

SENIORS also will need to provide a 2” x 3” vertical colored glossy print to the yearbook staff by October 14, 2016. The head size should be one-half inch from the bridge of the nose to the tip of the chin.

The student’s photographer of choice may take this picture; however “Lifetouch” will be available to take senior pictures during the dates listed if you wish. 

Students will need to bring a completed copy of the Lifetouch form on picture day along with payment (or proof of payment). Forms will also be available in the main office. You will be able to prepay for pictures by going to www.mylifetouch.com and use code CG896050Y0.

Schedules

Schedules will be available on Infinite Campus Portal starting August 12th after 2:00 pm. Please print a copy and bring it with you for the first day of school.

Immunizations

Immunizations MUST be current.  You may bring in updated immunization records at any time.

The Student Handbook with school policies can be found on the GHS website.

General Information

Bus schedules, bell schedules, school calendar, PTA information, etc., can be found on the website at: www.goldenhighschool.com.   Please check the website frequently for updates to this information.

Juniors

Sign up to take the PSAT on Saturday, October 15th, 2016. This test has been created by College Board, maker of the SAT and Advance Placement tests. High PSAT scores qualify students for Scholarship competition. Cost is $20.00 and will be included in the fees listed in Jeffco Connect/Student fee payment.

The PSAT helps students prepare for the actual college entrance examination, as well as placement in the most rigorous classes the student can handle at GHS.

Freshman Orientation

Freshmen Orientation will be held on Thursday, August 18th starting at 7:30 am. Freshmen are encouraged to attend and will begin at 7:30 am in the large gym and will have lunch and a modified schedule to meet briefly with all of their classes. Freshmen will be dismissed at 2:25 pm and buses will be running at their normal time. 

ID pictures will be taken on August 24th & 25th during school hours.  

All Parents (new and returning)

Back to School night will take place on Wednesday, August 17th, 2016 at 6:00 pm and is an opportunity to meet your child’s teachers. Please put this date in your calendar and plan on attending. Please bring a copy of your students’ schedule (available on the parent portal on August 12th after 2:00 pm).
