Asbestos Training

This 2-hour training is required annually for custodial and maintenance personnel. Because of the length of the training, it has been broken into 5 sections.

Sections 1 through 3 will each take approximately 20 minutes to complete;

Sections 4 and 5 will each take approximately 30 minutes.

Each section has a quiz at the end.

All five sections must be completed and the quizzes passed in order to be in compliance. Please complete all five sections within 20 working days (4 weeks) of starting them. Thank you for your participation.

A.H.E.R.A. (Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act)

Under the Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA), the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) requires each elementary and secondary school to perform an inspection for asbestos-containing building materials and to prepare an asbestos management plan. The AHERA regulations further require a Surveillance Report every six months and a Comprehensive Re-Inspection every three years. The Reinspection period provides an excellent opportunity for schools to re-evaluate and update their programs for managing asbestos.

Environmental Services provides this service for the District. Documentation of sampling and inspections is available for all schools. Asbestos management plans are prepared for all schools and other district facilities and these are available for public inspection at the Environmental Services office and also at each school. Call (303) 982-2349 for additional information or to schedule a plan review.
