General Information

Promoting sound environmental management practices to ensure a healthy place for learning.
Our mission is to ensure a safe and healthy environment for learning, promote sound ecological management of District resources and reduce liability by facilitating compliance to regulatory mandates.  Our role is to oversee the district's compliance with state and federal environmental regulations, serve as liaison to environmental regulatory agencies, communicate and coordinate compliance activities with schools and supporting departments.

  • Water and Wastewater Management (for mountain schools)
    • Water treatment, Clean Water Act (CWA)
    • Water augmentation and water testing
    • National Pollutant Discharge Elimination Systems (NPDES) permit management
    • Wastewater treatment
    • Sanitary waste removal and transport 
  • Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA)
    • Perform required inspections
    • Conduct repairs and removals in accordance with Operations & Maintenance (O&M) requirements for schools
    • Review abatement contracts and monitor renovation activities
    • Perform small asbestos abatement operations
  • Hazardous Materials Management
    • Hazardous waste pick up and disposal (compliance assurance)
    • Respond to hazardous materials spills
    • Maintain District hazardous materials inventories
    • Biohazardous & pharmaceutical waste disposal
  • Stormwater Management Program

    • Air permit compliance
    • Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) – including Underground Storage Tank (UST) regulatory compliance
