  • 5.18.17 SCHOOL MESSENGER (GRADUATION UPDATE)

    Good Afternoon Cougar Families,

Unfortunately, Red Rocks has closed their venue for tomorrow. However, we do have a new backup plan for graduation. We know how excited our Seniors were about celebrating their graduation at Red Rocks and regret having to make this call.

The ceremony will be held at the Denver Coliseum (4600 Humboldt St, Denver, CO 80216) tomorrow at 2:00pm. All Red Rocks graduations have been moved to the Coliseum for tomorrow. Below are some important details regarding the event.

    Tickets

No tickets are required for this event. There is plenty of seating, including handicap accessible seating.

    Parking

There are 2,000 parking spaces at the Denver Coliseum, so parking should not be an issue. The cost is still $10. If the lot is full, you will need to park on the North side of I-70 in the National Western Complex. Families are encouraged to drop off handicapped guests at the East entrance before parking, however, there are handicapped parking spots as well.

    Streaming

A reminder that if family members are unable to attend, they can watch the ceremony live from the link at www.evergreencougars.net

    Seniors

Seniors need to meet on the floor of the Coliseum at 1:00 pm. We will take our class picture at 1:15 pm on the floor and then all Seniors will meet behind the stage in the staging area to line up for the Processional. After the ceremony, you will be able to pick up your diplomas in that same staging area.

The staff here at Evergreen High School is just as disappointed as our families that this event cannot be held at Red Rocks. Thank you for being flexible and understanding that we cannot control the weather.

In the event that school is cancelled due to weather tomorrow, the graduation ceremony described above will still take place. Also a reminder that tomorrow is a non contact day for our Juniors, Sophomores and Freshmen.

  • 5.18.17 SCHOOL MESSENGER

    Good morning everyone,

On behalf of EHS administration, I would like to remind everyone that it is more important to arrive to school safe than it is to be on time. Please take your time and be careful this morning. We will see you when you get here.

    Sincerely,

    EHS Administration

  • 5.17.17 SCHOOL MESSENGER

    Good Afternoon Senior Families,

We have been monitoring the weather all week for Graduation and the forecast seems to be holding consistent. It looks like we should be getting snow starting Thursday night and tapering off Friday evening.  I wanted to make sure that you knew what our plans were for Friday.

We plan to hold the ceremony at Red Rocks unless they tell us that they cannot host the event. In speaking to Red Rocks, it is extremely rare that they will cancel an event unless there is a lightning advisory from the National Weather Service. Having said that, I think that we need to plan on the ceremony being held at Red Rocks.  A few items to keep in mind:

    •  If you have family members who are unable to attend due to health, the cold or road conditions, please remind them that the ceremony will be streamed live. They can access the link at www.evergreencougars.net
    •  Please encourage your seniors, family and friends to dress appropriately for the weather. Seniors can wear layers and warm clothes under their gowns. I told them today that snow pants, gloves and boots are acceptable. The seniors will be under a canopy, but guests should bring umbrellas and blankets as they will be out in the open.
    •  Allow time to get to the venue safely and still be in your seats by 1:45 so that we can begin the ceremony on time at 2:00 PM.
    •  If the weather is too bad, we will look at condensing the ceremony by eliminating some of the speaking portions to allow all student names to be read.

If Red Rocks cancels the event, we will hold Graduation at the same time here at Evergreen High School. We will only be allowing parents/guardians and siblings into the gymnasium where the ceremony will be held and we will have limited room for additional guests in the Auditorium where we will stream the ceremony on the screen.

Also, please note that we recognize that the letter in your student’s packet indicates your student’s diploma is in the packet. Students will receive their diplomas directly after the graduation ceremony. There will be tables off to the left and right of the stage where staff members will be handing out their diploma before leaving Red Rocks.

Thank you for your flexibility and understanding as we work to make this a memorable event for our students and families despite the challenging conditions.

    Assistant Principal
