We have a new Special Education team this year at Vanderhoof Elementary. 
We are very excited to start the 2015-2016 school year!!  
Learning Specialists
  1. Learning Specialist is an educator who is skilled and experienced in providing learning strategies to students who struggle with learning differences. These educators work one-on-one or in small groups to give students intensive support that meets their individual needs. Here at Vanderhoof, the Learning Specialists will be working in and out of the general education classroom to provide services for students on IEP's.
Most parents and students know who Indy Milonas is. She usually does crosswalk duty and loves Ladybugs. This will be her 4th year at Vanderhoof as a Learning Specialist . She has been teaching for 34 years. 

Our new Learning Specialist is Amos Gardner. He's a new dad who loves  movies, music, and the outdoors. This will be his 10th year in teaching. 

Speech Language PathologistA Speech Language Pathologist assesses, diagnoses, treats and helps prevent disorders related to speech, language, cognitive-communication, voice, and fluency. Our Speech-Language Pathologist will work with students who have Speech Language as a service on their IEP's.
  1.         Vanderhoof also has a new Speech Language Pathologist Nancy Alberts. She has been helping students with their language skills for 15 years. She loves to read and the color black. 

Paraprofessional is a special-education worker who is not licensed to teach, but performs many duties both individually with students and organizationally in the classroom. Your child may be assigned a one-on-one paraprofessional as part of his or her IEP, or interact with a paraprofessional assigned to the classroom. 

Our Special Education Paraprofessional is Christine Knutson. This will be her 4th year at Vanderhoof. Tole painting, crafting, and scrapbooking are some of her favorite things to do.
