Welcome to 1st Grade!
Our Team
In first grade, students build on last year’s work and gain important new skills as they move from a world of play into a world of symbols and concepts. This doesn’t mean that play is not still important, but it does mean that learning in first grade becomes more organized and routine-based - with an appropriate amount of time for children’s explorations and creativity to foster critical thinking. First grade students employ different strategies based on their learning style, but the goal is for them to become proud, confident, and happy readers. Writing is also important as students learn to put together complete sentences and even full paragraphs, though their handwriting may be sloppy and spelling may be...creative.
Thank you for partnering with us in your child's education!
