K/1 Program

Our K/1 Program

Here at Peiffer we are proud to present our unique K/1 program. We offer an opportunity for kindergarteners and first graders to come together for a collaborative and challenging experience. This past year we have seen an enormous growth in our kindergarten skills as compared to previous years where the students are in a straight kindergarten program. The mentoring from first graders give the kindergarteners a great role model to provide leadership qualities, as well as stretch their thinking and expressing themselves.  The kindergarteners are not the only ones who benefit from this amazing program. First graders in the K/1 program have the gift of having the same teacher and classmates for two consecutive years. Children are able to start their first grade year with greater ease as they have already developed a bond with their teacher as well as formed close friendships with students they learned alongside last year. Stronger collaboration is fostered, and opportunities to build leadership skills are a strength. Academically, we are able to move our first graders along faster since having learned their personal learning style and individual needs from the previous year. Routines and expectations are already established which provides more time for learning and enrichment.

Meet Mrs. Gray

Meet Mrs. Rodgers
My name is Tanya Rodgers. I am a Colorado native. I love living here and enjoy the natural beauty of our state. I decided I wanted to be a teacher when I was 5 years old. I never changed my mind. I have been at Peiffer for a long time! I student taught here in 1990, and I am still here, so you can do the math if you'd like to. I have taught all grades from Kindergarten through 4th grade. I love having this perspective as I teach my students. I know where they've been, and I understand where they are going. I love calling Peiffer and this special community my home. I have my Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from the Metropolitan State University and my Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Colorado. I have been married to my high school sweetheart for 30 years. We have an adult son, who is a former Peiffer Panther. He is working to become a cyber security specialist.  I enjoy spending time with my family, traveling, reading, and working with technology. I am excited for the 2018-2019 school year! Thanks for sharing your precious little ones with me. I know we will have a great year.

Meet Mrs. Trout
I was born and raised in Colorado, right here in Littleton. Teaching has always been a passion of mine ever since I got a mini chalkboard for Christmas with my sister being the only "real" student in my class. I attended Metropolitan State University of Denver where I received my B.A. in Human Development with a minor in Elementary Education. I am currently attending University of Colorado Denver in hopes of receiving my M.A. in Information and Learning Technology in 2019. This will be my third year at Peiffer Elementary and I can't wait to share this school year with you! In my classroom you can expect students to be collaborating, engaged in the learning, and technology in hand. Technology can open doors for students and I am a true believer in how much it can help reluctant learners open up and take learning deeper. I really focus on the whole child to help them truly succeed in and out of the classroom. By being kind to one another and helping each other we will be bucket fillers. We will discover Project Based Learning throughout the year to help bring real world scenarios into our classroom. I truly value students' voices and want to make sure that they feel safe and important while at school. Teaching is my passion and through that passion, I hope to inspire your child beyond the year they are in my classroom.
