Attention ALL 6th-8th graders!!

As your summer plans begin to take shape, I hope you will consider starting to train and prepare for the 2017 BCK-8 Cross Country season!! We will be starting practice August 21st, 2017.

Cross country running is a sport in which teams and individuals run a race on courses that consist of trails, dirt roads, grass, water crossings, bike paths and other varying terrain.  It is both an individual and a team sport. Runners are scored on individual times. Team scores are calculated according to individual overall places. Race distances vary from one meet to the next and can range in distance from 1.5 mile to 3.2 miles races. Meets are held throughout the Denver Metro area, in parks or general open space. Tryouts are not necessary. Cross Country is a non-elimination sport, which means any boy or girl wanting to run who is in 6th, 7th and 8th grade is welcome to join the team, after filling out and completing an athletic packet.

First day of PRACTICE: AUGUST 21, 2017 @ 3:00 pm meet in Fitness room

**Athletic packets need to be completed and returned prior to being able to practice. **

***ALL athletic packets are DUE NO LATER than, August 24, 2017. ***

IF you decide to quit the team after the first week of practice your Athletic fee will be refunded by August 31 ONLY. After that, NO refunds will be given.

Summer Training Ideas for Cross Country

Maintaining a strong base for your endurance and overall stamina is essential to not only your TEAM success, but YOUR success. Please work hard and have a great summer putting in some miles and getting strong for the upcoming season.

Work up to trying to run for at least 20-25 minutes WITHOUT stopping or having to walk.

Make sure to invest in a supportive pair of running shoes. Look at buying them from Runner’s Roost or Boulder Running Company.

The more active you are this summer, the easier the transition will be for running and racing come August.  Have a great summer!
