Executive Committee

President: Mike Campbell 

     A native of Colorado, he was raised in Arvada. After attending Drake Junior High he went on to graduate from Arvada West in 1966.        He and his wife Marji have a daughter who is a Professor of European History at the University of North Dakota and a son who is a          Professor of Theater Arts at the University of Wisconsin, Sheybogan. Mike was a social studies teacher for twenty-five years and a          public school administrator for sixteen years, the last eleven as a high school Principal. He currently is an Affiliate Faculty at Regis          University and serves as an officer on two other non-profit organizations.

Vice President: Katie Groke Ellis

Katie Groke Ellis is currently the Director of Communications, Marketing and Community Outreach at the Apex Park and Recreation District. She is the past Director of Communications and Marketing for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Colorado and is the former National Program Manager at The White House Project.  She has a background in recruiting and training women to run for office, running ballot initiative campaigns and grassroots organizing.  A graduate of the University of Wyoming where she played on a soccer scholarship, Katie has worked with the NCAA, Choice USA, Springboard Enterprises and Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains. Katie also has a Masters Degree in Public Administration from the University of Colorado at Denver. Katie also sits on the Board of Directors for Arvada Vitality Alliance.  A Colorado native, Katie graduated from Arvada West in 1999.

Tammy Yonkie graduated from AWHS in 1978, attended CSU from 1978-1981, earned a BA from UNC in Elementary Education. Tammy taught 6th/7th grade at Fort Morgan Middle School, 1987-2001. Tammy purchased an awards and recognition business in 2001 and currently works from home. She served 4 years on the PTSA board, secretary and treasurer, at Van Arsdale Elementary, is coordinator for the Van Arsdale and Arvada West/Ralston Valley area spelling bee, volunteers many hours in the classroom, and spends countless hours attending soccer and basketball practices and games. Derek Everett

Derek R. Everett is a Colorado native, born in Denver and graduated from Arvada West in 1998, where he was a member of the Humanities program and yearbook editor  He and his wife Heather have a daughter, Louisa, born in 2011.  Derek holds a B.A. from Western State College of Colorado, an M.A. from Colorado State University, and a Ph.D. from the University of Arkansas.  He teaches in the history departments of Metropolitan State University of Denver and Colorado State University, emphasizing Colorado, the western United States, and American history in general.  Derek's first book, The Colorado State Capitol: History, Politics, Preservation, was published in 2005, and his second book, Creating the American West: Boundaries and Borderlands, came out in 2014.

Cliff Jurgens

A third generation CO native and 2nd generation Arvada native, Cliff graduated AWHS in 1984. During his senior year in high school and post HS, he completed the Graphic Design program at Warren Technical Occupational Center and his AAS degree at Red Rocks CC. Cliff earned an Undergraduate and a Masters Degree in Business, and he has worked for small and large corporations in Sales and Marketing throughout his career.  In addition to holding various leadership positions, he helps his family run C2C Design Solutions, a management consulting and interior design soft goods production company.  Cliff has served on many boards and he has volunteered in many areas including, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints,  PTSO, CMRA, APAC, AWHS Reunion Committee, RVHS Cross Country, AWHS Cross Country, and the AWHS Foundation. Memory Lamfers
Memory Lamfers is a third generation Coloradoan.  She moved to Arvada in 1955 and is a1968 graduate of Arvada West.  She continued her education at the University of Northern Colorado, earning her B.A. and M.A. in Education.  She taught elementary school in Jefferson County from 1972-2005, many of those years teaching first grade at Secrest Elementary in Arvada.  She is an Elder of Trinity Presbyterian Church, Omega State Recording Secretary of Delta Kappa Gamma International Society for Key Women Educators,  “Making Choices” teacher and re-entry mentor for incarcerated women at the Denver Women’s Correctional Facility, Club Leader for Whiz Kids at Swanson Elementary, liaison for a Mission Partnership within the Denver Presbytery, a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and the Arvada Historical Society.  Memory has worked with teachers in Mexico and Nepal to strengthen their teaching abilities and sensitivity to the emotional needs of children.  She currently teaches yoga in Arvada and volunteers that service to groups in the Denver area.
