Devinny Artists created marble paper the first day of Art!
If you would like to create at home here are the directions:

How to Marble Paper:
Materals: Carrageean powder, Golden Fluid Acrylic paint (small bottles), Eye dropper, toothpicks, spoons, plastic cups Multi media paper.

Carrageenan is a powder found in Art Supply Stores like Meininger's, Guiry's and on-line. Add one Tablespoon and one Teaspoon of Carrageenan to a half gallon of distilled water and blend in a household blender for one minute. The mixture will be bubbly and need to rest in the refrigerator overnight.  The next day pour an inch deep into a tray.
Pour a small amount of paint into a cup and add a few drops of water to thin.  Stir.  Use an eyedropper to distribute paint on the carrageenan.  Drag a toothpick trough the paint to create a marble design.  Set paper on carrageenan and tap all corners.  Pull out paper and see your amazing design.  Let dry overnight.

Perfect Gift Idea:
Devinny Artist's love supplies to create!  Journals, sketchbooks and paint sets in any medium are perfect for gifts!  Crayola color sticks are bright and smooth and look amazing on colored paper. Colored wire makes wonderful sculptures!  Thank you for encouraging students to create at home!

   Recycling to Create!
Creating art is problem solving and students are encouraged to come up with solutions to reuse, repurpose and recycle.  Our next school wide creative challenge is coming up and we accept donations of material, beads, craft supplies, felt, buttons, plastic containers and anything with interesting texture.  Bring it in and we will find a use for it!
