The Jefferson County Literacy Council is proud to say that volunteer tutors are the heart of our organization!  In FY 2014/15 we served a total of 342 individuals throughout the county, helping them learn English, gain computer skills, improve basic reading, writing and computation skills as well as prepare for the GED test. With our small staff of part-time office support and instructors and a delivery service range of eight cities within the county, we rely heavily on volunteers to help us carry out our mission of strengthening communities through literacy.

JCLC will next offer opportunities to become a volunteer tutor in September of 2016.  To become a volunteer, you must attend one orientation session and one training session.  The dates for the fall orientation and training sessions are listed below.

New Resources for Language Learning

Did you know that Rosetta Stone language learning software is now available through our local libraries?  Jefferson County Libraries recently merged with the Bridges Library System (formerly known as the Waukesha County Federated Library System) and all Jefferson County Libraries now have access to many more online databases than ever before!  All you need is a card from a participating library, an e-mail address and a little time.  Click on the image below to get started:
