AUGUST DAYS - service.html Our own summer recreational program for disadvantaged children. 2 weeks in July or August. 9 am - 3pm. Priority to incoming juniors and seniors.

CAMP INDEPENDENCE. A sports intensive day camp for young people ages 7-18 with cerebral palsy. Runs in one week sessions, from 8:30 am until 4:30 pm. Sponsored by Children's Hospital for the Cerebral Palsy Sports and Rehabilitation Center. GIRLS, INC.-- Operates an educational and recreational summer program. 7:30 am -5:30 pm, June to mid-August. flexible volunteer hours. Age 14 and up. Girl volunteers only.

GOOD SHEPHERD SCHOOL FOR CHILDREN -- 1170 Timber Run Dr., off Olive in Creve Coeur area. CHILDREN This school is dedicated to providing quality inclusive education for children with special needs and typically developing children from ages six weeks to six years. They are looking for teacher aide volunteers, who are needed year-round, from 7 a.m. until 6 p.m. Minimum age: 16 Call: 314.469.0606.

INTERNATIONAL INSTITUTE SUMMER YOUTH PROGRAM -- 3654 Grand A program for newly arrived refugee children focusing on teaching English skills, recreation, crafts, and field trips. Volunteers do not need to know a foreign language. The young campers are encouraged to practice English. Mid-June to Mid August, 8:30 am. to 4:30 pm in Tower Grove Park. Call 314.773.8021. KIDS PLACE University United Methodist 6901 Washington Ave. MO 63130 Kids Placeprovides a safe and nurturing after-school experience that includes nutrition and mentoring at no cost to families of at-risk children in the Delmar-Harvard neighborhood in University City. KIWANIS CAMP WYMAN. 600 Kiwanis Drive. Eureka, MO 63025. This organization sponsors a a variety of activities for youth with limited means. They sponsor year round programs, including day camps, after school camp, and overnight camp. They have a training institute for young leaders.

MIRIAM SCHOOL SUMMER SCHOOL-- 501 Bacon Ave. 63119-1512 A summer school program for children ages 4-9 with learning disabilities and behavior disorders. Located off Rock Hill Rd., on Bismark.

PARAQUAD 5240 Oakland 63110 Volunteers needed for one week sessions to help campers learn how to use computers. Lunch is provided.

SHERWOOD FOREST CAMP, INC. 2798 Sutton Blvd. St. Louis, MO 63143. This organization sponsors outdoor education, family retreats, and camps for low income families.

ST. JOSEPH INSTITUTE FOR THE DEAF-- Camp/Summer School: 1809 Clarkson Rd., in Chesterfield near Clarkson and Baxter Roads. Sponsors an auditory/oral summer day camp in July(two weeks) for hearing impaired children ages 5 - 12. Teenage volunteers must commit to the full two week program (80 hours). Mature 14 and up.

ST. LOUIS ARC (SLARC) -- Day and overnight programs, all summer at various locations throughout the county: Creve Coeur, Town and Country, Crestwood, Florissant, etc.) The programs are quite varied, from crafts and cooking to sports.

ST. LOUIS SCIENCE CENTER -- . 5050 Oakland AveHalf day commitment. Work in the Discovery Room helping guests understand exhibits. Positions fill up fast. Applications for summer work must be submitted by February. Summer orientation is in the spring. Call volunteer dept.: 314.289.4412.

ST. LOUIS SOCIETY FOR CHILDREN AND ADULTS WITH PHYSICAL DISABILITIES -- 1187 Corporate Lake Drive, Suite 100, St. Louis, MO 63132. Camp is held in Florissant. This agency operates programs for physically disabled adults, teens, and children; activities include swimming, golf, tennis outings, etc. Many of the participants use walkers or wheelchairs. How about sharing your energy with another teenager who just happens to be in a wheelchair? The summer sports camp is usually in the first week of June. Students have enjoyed working here. ST. LOUIS ZOO SUMMER CAMP-- (KANGAZOO) Forest Park. Day camp for youngsters 6 -12 years old. From mid-June to mid-August, 8 am - 3:30 pm. Volunteer counselors must be 15 years old or older and commit for two weeks. One day training. Call Zoo Education Dept.:

VARIETY, THE CHILDREN’S CHARITY OF ST. LOUIS. ADVENTURE CAMP FOR YOUTHS WITH PHYSICAL DISABILITIES --2200 Westport Plaza Dr., St. Louis, MO 63146. Variety club sponsors a couple of week long day camps for children with any type of physical disability. Most counselors also have disabilities.
